Birthday Cake

So, I am another year older,it was my birthday on the 25th and Leiny made me a great cake, Meringue Gateau from Darina Allen's Ballymaloe Cookery Course Book. She put fresh cream and fresh blueberries and raspberries on it.

I got a Zen teapot with infuser as a gift. Tea and cake made a great birthday treat.

Turville

The house where the Vicar of Dibley lives, the show is filmed in Turville a village a few miles from Henley. We had lunch in the Bull and Butcher today. Great food in a wonderful country pub.

I tried out the local phone booth but it did not accept coins.

The wind mill on the hill in Turville is clearly visible from the Pub.

Looking around at home

The drinks cabinet in the living room with Leiny's final peice for college and a wreath of eggs, with a basket full of Enid Blyton books and a Moroccan candle holder.

Last July I got an orchid as a birthday gift, that orchid brought our collection to six, it is flowering again this year.

The Lovers a wedding gift for Marc and I from our good friend Dick Joynt

Our family love books, especially books about Art and Crafts.

France

We sampled the great wines at Domaine De Rombeau and enjoyed the attenion our host, Pierre Henri, lavished on us.

The picnics were a very colourful affair, with local wine, cider, cheese and of course baguette and flute longue. The days were sunny and filled with relaxing, swimming, eating and drinking with the evenings full of song and dance.

New Home Project

Leiny designed a Shaker Style Coat Rack and Marc made it for us last week, he cut the timber to size and used the De Walt router and jigsaw to shape them and define the edges. It is nine foot long and has eighteen hooks, six are double hooks. I picked up the pretty brass and ceramic hooks in Woodies store. Then he painted it with Dulux Satinwood. I could not wait to hang up some jackets and put some items on the shelf.

While working in the Garden I came across the bricks we got from a friend a few years ago. She has an eye for old ceramics and stones. I love this old junk yard find that has Athy Brick and Tile Co Ltd on it.

This is really the best time of the year, all the plants and flowers are growing during the almost eighteen hours of daytime, struggling to produce flowers which will in turn become the all important seeds. We can go for an hours walk at nine thirty in the evening. After the long walk this evening, our two black labradors, Mimi and Matilde, sat in the yard as dusk fell.
