Heywood Gardens

I have been to visit this garden many times and still find it amazing. It was designed by Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll planted it.

One of the lakes with large trees along the banks and waterlilies dotted along the surface

Alcoves along the alley of Hornbeam trees display engraved urns

The circular garden is enclosed by a wall which has circular windows with views of the rolling fields and cattle beyond

Gordon Bennett Rally 2008

The Gordon Bennett Rally is a Memorial to a Race held many years ago. We enjoyed a great day out today with our Morris Minor Traveller driving in convoy along the Laois Heritage Trail. The first stop on the rally was Castlecomer Heritage Park where I met with Lucy McKenna who is moving in there as Artist in Residence.

Our next stop was Heywood Gardens where one hundred vintage and classic cars drove in the main entrance and parked in rows during the afternoon
